Author Iain Sinclair delves into the archives to find out why the seemingly mundane weather forecast has been a fascination for listeners and viewers since the early days of broadcasting. He examines extreme weather events such as the floods of 1953, red rain in 1968 and the gales of 1987, while forecasters Michael Fish, Bill Giles and Sian Lloyd discuss what it means to be at the forefront of the public's interaction with their favourite subject.

As a personal aside, here in the UK there is a newspaper called The Daily Express, which is forever forecasting gloom and doom with regards to the weather. I would be interested in hearing about any other newspapers reporting similar stories.
