Looking back on the work and genius of Delia Derbyshire, one of the founders of the BBC Radiphonic Workshop who is probably most famous for her creation of the iconic original Doctor Who theme which is deconstructed here along with many other archive pieces, including a piece called "The Dance" which although recorded in the 1960s would be equally at home in contemporary dance clubs today.

  • This is fascinating! The one disappointing feature of the revived "Doctor Who" is that Russell T Davies - or someone - chose to replace Delia Derbyshire's Radiophonic Workshop arrangement of Ron Grainger's theme music with an orchestral version. The Grainger-Derbyshire version is the best TV title theme ever. The new version is a good couple of rungs below it.
