This is a well researched radio play about the Bristol Riots of 1831.  It concentrates on Brereton's role as commander of Military forces during the riots and burning of Bristol.   As accounts go this is the first to present the rioters, the rich, the soldiers and the Officials all as just people.  Most accounts of the time have presented the rioters as a faceless mob bent on destruction or the Council and the soldiers as tyrannical and heavy handed.  A truly well written and superbly acted radio play.
