Space Pirate Captain Harlock and his fearless crew face off against the space invaders who seek to conquer the planet Earth. Space Pirate Captain Harlock (宇宙海賊キャプテンハーロック Uchū Kaizoku Kyaputen Hārokku?) is a 2013 Japanese 3D CG anime film directed by Shinji Aramaki.
In the future, mankind has discovered a way to travel faster than light and has built colonies on thousands of planets. With humanity fading and the resources of the universe starting to dwindle, some five hundred billion humans began the long journey back home, Earth. However, humanity has outgrown its capacity to repatriate that many people and thus began the "Homecoming War," where the many factions of humanity battled for a stake on Earth. The war was long and bloody, things wouldn't subside until an authoritarian universal government by the name of the Gaia Sanction declares Earth a sacred planet, and thus forbidden for humanity to repopulate.
In 2010, Toei Animation announced that it made a pilot for a computer-graphics remake, and it presented the pilot at Tokyo International Anime Fair that year. In the next year, was presented a preview of Space Pirate Captain Harlock at Annecy International Animated Film Festival. This was Toei Animation's second highest production budget ever at the equivalent of over 30 million dollars, only behind the movie Saint Seiya: Legend of Sanctuary with a budget of over 100 million dollars. The story was reconstructed by the writer Harutoshi Fukui to reflect the themes of modern society and Toei provided the latest filmmaking technology for the film. An English-narrated international teaser trailer was released for promotion. It was shown out of competition at the 70th Venice International Film Festival and was screened at the 33rd Hawaii International Film Festival. It received a mixed to negative response from critics and was nominated for the Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year.

Aw...I was hoping to practice my Japanese! ;o) ありがとうございます非常に立派な氏リック
I know where I can get one in japanese. Do you want it? ------------------------------ R
Yes,please, Rick. Obviously I would need english subs.
let me see if I can find it again. I think it was on torrents so it is iffy but I will try. ------------ R
it's okay for me anyhow, Rick.
I got the japanese version on yt
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6flOYPdkkDI
and the sub here
http://www.opensubtitles.org/en/subtitles/5564912/space-pirate-capt...
syncs perfectly with the youtube vid.
if anyone else cares to go this route. when grabbing the sub, i suggest removing tick from
use open subtitles download manager.
it will download as an exe file. perhaps it is harmless, but I'm always
suspicous of exe files, unless you are downloasing a program. Removing the tick will download it a zip file, and the srt is within it.
Glad you got it that way. I went to usenet, as i had remembered it was not a torrent. Anyways I downloaded 3 different renditions. One was english with english subs, the second was japanese with japanese subs. The third was in japanese with English subs but it was FUBAR and unrepairable. In fact it locked up my usenet reader and could not be repaired. After an hour of getting the same message I finally over rode it and restarted. I am going back now to see whether I damaged my reader or not and what I have to do to fix it. What a mess. I had the one you were looking for from usenet but had deleted it when i found the english language version. I thought that one of the 3 was it but obviously not. I tried anyways, now I will go about repairing the damage. I have to do that about once a month due to the no mans land that I tread almost continually. ------------------------------ R
hope it goes well.
If not I will uninstall and reinstall. ------------------------------------ R
