A historic biography about the poet of protest music in America
This four-hour biography of Bob Dylan, directed by Martin Scorsese, synthesizes rare and raw footage of Dylan’s entry onto the music scene in the early 1960s. This film about the reclusive poet-singer who rose to fame during the protest era held together by a single long, reflective interview with Dylan. The documentary also includes interviews with seminal popular musicians, music producers and towering cultural figures who knew Dylan well, including Allen Ginsberg, Joan Baez, Peter Yarrow, and Pete Seeger. Telling the story of the coming of age of an iconic musician, it is a portrait of an existential man bursting with metaphors and compelled to sing them out loud. It is also a story about alienation that illuminates a period of American history.
