Sugarfoot (TV Series 1957–1961)

Sugarfoot is an American western television series that aired on ABC from 1957 to 1961. The Warner Brothers production stars Will Hutchins as Tom Brewster, an Easterner who comes to the Oklahoma Territory to become a lawyer. Jack Elam is cast in occasional episodes as sidekick Toothy Thompson. Brewster was a correspondence-school student whose apparent lack of cowboy skills earned him the nickname "Sugarfoot", a designation even below that of a tenderfoot.

The show had no relation to the 1951 Randolph Scott Western film Sugarfoot aside from the studio owning the title, but its pilot episode was a remake of an offbeat 1954 western film called The Boy from Oklahoma, starring Will Rogers, Jr., as Tom Brewster. The pilot and premiere episode, "Brannigan's Boots," was so similar to The Boy from Oklahoma that Sheb Wooley and Slim Pickens reprised their roles from the movie.

  • Robert, Thanks for posting another season.  I'm getting a lot of enjoyment watching these old episodes.  I watched these old westerns faithfully with my dad well over 50 years ago......great memories.  Thank you.

    • Have more of the series to post eventually'

  • I love old westerns like Gunsmoke, Alias Smith and Jones, Maverick, and The Guns of Will Sonnett.  I have never seen this series so I will love the chance to watch it.  Thanks!

  • Thank you, Robert!

  • Thank you tom! I was beginning to think no one was going to help me out.
  • Robert, I would like very much to see more episodes from this series.  I hadn't seen this show since I was a young boy.  I really do love old western movies, tv shows, radio shows, and audio dramas.  I like many genres but the old classic westerns are my favorite.

    • My next post will try and do season two of Sugarfoot.  Also I have several old Warner Bros series like Maverick, Cheyenne, Bronco and so on.

    • Robert, For me personally, I already have all the Cheyenne seasons on DVD.  I loved that show and have purchased one season at a time over the years.  I would be very interested in the Maverick and Bronco shows though, as well as any more Sugarfoot episodes you might have.  I have the entire Lone Ranger collection and the first 6 seasons of Bonanza if you or anybody else would be interested.  I also have all 66 Hopalong Cassidy movies and all the Hoppy TV shows.  I would also be glad to post my Cheyenne episodes for you if they would happen to be better quality than the ones you have.  They would be 720 X 480.  My bandwidth is pretty limited here where I live out in the country, so I have to upload a little at a time.

  • Can I actually watch them here or no?
