White Coolies by Sister Agnes Betty Jeffrey (AU-1955)

This is a Story of Australian Army Nursing Sisters  in Malaya with the 8th Division A.I.F in 1941-1942   taken from the diaries kept by Sister Agnes Betty Jeffrey,(14 May 1908 - 13 September 2000). She was taken into captivity by the Japanese Imperial Army and interned during the 3 1/2 years she spent as a prisoner of war.

Episode One of this radio series aired on August 10, 1955. This is a radio series that left an impression on me and evoked sadness, laughter and awe at different points of the story.  This series is a superior dramatic presentation that had me spellbound.  I sincerely hope you enjoy it as much as i did. I am a lover of fiction and usually am not thrilled with non fiction and this being non fiction I was unsure and by the time I had stopped listening on the first listen I was 4 hours into the story when I finally stopped fighting sleep and went to sleep.  --------  R

Series is in the Australian Radio Folder
