Dick Barton and The Vulture
BBC Export 1949

Douglas Kelly stars as "Dick Barton – Special Agent" in a thrilling adventure for radio’s classic hero.
The adventures of special agent Dick Barton and his friends Jock and Snowey originally ran on BBC Radio between 1946 and 1951. Set in an exciting world of criminal masterminds, espionage and adventure, the series was essential listening for an entire generation.
Sadly, very few of the BBC’s original recordings still survive—but in 1949 a number of early Barton tales were re–recorded for transmission overseas. Starring Douglas Kelly, these re–stagings found new audiences in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. Over 300 of these international recordings were rediscovered in the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia in 2009—allowing listeners finally to relive the escapades of the great Dick Barton.
In this episode: Barton is on the trail of Tony Patelli, a criminal mastermind who has stolen a truckload of gold bullion. Can Barton save a kidnapped girl from Patelli’s clutches? Can he defeat the Vulture?
If anyone has a higher bitrate of this Adventure would you Please post?

I have been going to buy these CDs since they started to appear but so far haven't got round to it.
My dad used to talk very fondly of Dick Barton. In the immediate aftermath of World War II, this was a proper family event in many British lives, and my father would fondly recall sitting down with his dad each night for the latest instalment. My dad was from Shoreditch (proper Jack The Ripper country) which was one of the most battered and bombed areas in the whole country, and still in a state of considerable repair for some years after 1945. At the time, this quite literally was Light Entertainment.
Cheers for all these Rick! You're definitely the man with the audio plan!
Thanks too Riklaa, Robert (b1945) my brother and a bit older would have ben into these at the time but I cannot recall them, far too young obviously. Thanks.
I tried to post a picture, in another thread, as you do but failed.
