The Wind Pump
by Dawn Lowe-Watson.
After 50 years, a former Japanese POW, now a composer and music master at Cambridge, agrees to be interviewed about his experiences by Maria, a young TV journalist. The encounter leads to an old windpump on the Norfolk broads, the composer's retreat before and after the war. The interview stirs up emotions in the present and events from the sleeping past.
