The Norman Conquests by Alan Ayckbourn

The Norman Conquests are considered the masterworks of Alan Ayckbourn, Britain's foremost comedy dramatist.

Julian Rhind-Tutt and Helen Baxendale lead a stellar cast through the intricacies of these three interlinked comedies, depicting the events of a single weekend from the perspective of three locations (dining room, living room and garden) as assistant librarian Norman attempts to seduce the three women present at the house with varying results.

They can be listened to in any order, or one play enjoyed on its own.

Annie (HELEN BAXENDALE) cares for ailing Mother in the family home. She has arranged a weekend away and asked brother Reg (JEFF RAWLE) and his wife Sarah (CLARE LAWRENCE-MOODY) to care for Mother, aided by Annie's shy neighbour and admirer Tom (NIGEL PLANER).

Annie has secretly planned the break with her brother-in-law, Norman, married to Annie's scary sister Ruth (TRACY-ANN OBERMAN). But now Annie's having a serious rethink. And Norman won't take no for an answer. There will be fireworks!
