Saint Joan by George Bernard Shaw

  • This version, first broadcast in 2011, is adequate, but the lead can't hold a candle (pun intended) to Dame Judi Dench (BBC) or Siobhan McKenna (RTE).

I've uploaded the Dench recording and two versions of the McKenna here:

    • I was very slow on the uptake with "can't hold a candle to" and then the penny dropped.

And then I groaned, OH, if only I had thought of it first.

I know I shall enjoy listening to your offerings for which I thank you.
