It's a cold New York night and Detective Matt Walker, the worse for drink, searches for his car. He suspects it's been stolen and someone will pay. He spots a black restaurant worker, Luke, putting out trash, and randomly accuses him of being part of a gang of car thieves.

Fat Sam, Luke and Jimmy Johnson have been having a quiet night cleaning a diner when the detective comes in - and changes their lives.
