As with most lost plays there is no information except Title, date and partial cast.  We start anew with the process of someone with writing ability listening and writing a meaningful synopsis.  With the amount of posts i make I cannot listen to them all beforehand nor do I have the necessary writing skills to do a work justice.  I ask that some meber who has the skill write an synopsis or if they can find what i could not please post any info gleaned or written.  Thanks!  -------------------------------  Rick

  • Great stuff you two, well done

  • A very compelling drama Rick.

Here goes with a synopsis for you.

An elderly woman Bea (Beatrice) is reflecting on her diary of 1910, when she was 16 years old.

Her father the vicar is atypical of the Victorian times. Women must be controlled and be obedient to men.

Flo (Florence) cannot stand the home life and runs away to London, where she becomes involved with the Women's Social and Political Union. "suffragettes"

Basil Cardew a family friend helps Flo maintain contact with Beatrice. Edward, the elder son & Flo want Beatrice to go back to school, fearing that Bea may be falling in love with Basil who is homosexual.

When her father has a stroke, Bea feels that God is laughing at all women. She is expected to be a slave to her father.

When news of Flo’s imprisonment for smashing shop windows arrives her father cannot hide his satisfaction.

Beatrice takes her revenge against God and her father.(Lovely sound effects).

    • Thank You William, I really appreciate it.  I am posting so many of these new found treasures that I do not have time enough to listen to them all and Suttonelm only has the title, date and a few players for those that were until recently lost.  ---------------------------------------------------------------------  Rick

    • My pleasure Rick. I will only be too pleased to help when I can.

Would you like me to send future synopsi to you so that you can amend the frontispiece or just add as I did today.

I am not after a biline. I would just like to keep my hand in, and hopfully encourage others. A play is all the more enjoyable knowing something of the plot.

    • As you wish.  It can be done either way.  I will give you the credit anyways no matter.  It is like a Thank You.  I know that you are not doing it for the glory.  I realized that you were a serious collector and listener early on.  You are like me.  I only do it to pay forward what i collect for others to also enjoy.        ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Rick

  • Thank you

    • Another great pic.
