Wow! This is a treasure trove.
I've heard many, but there are
a lot of Louis Jordan and Chuck Berry
that I'm seeing for the first time.
That "London Howlin' Wolf Sessions":
Mr. Wolf was touring dingy clubs in London,
maybe trying to earn passage back to Chicago.
Bill Wyman from the Stones saw him and rounded
up rock's royalty for two days of recordings.
And a master class: in Little Red Rooster
(tutorial); excuse me, (rehearsal),
Mr. Wolf schools Clapton in how to play the blues properly.
Winwood, Ringo, Klaus Voormann drop in as available.
It's strange hearing "Sittin on top of the World" with Clapton
on lead (just like on Wheels of Fire), but that's not Jack Bruce
and Ginger Baker, no, it's Wyman and Charlie Watts, with
Mr. Wolf on vocals. Clapton with the Stones rhythm,
without the annoying Mr. Jagger.
I think BBC did a doc about it.
[I looked this up on Wikipedia to check on the back-up players.
They're version is completely different than mine. I prefer mine.
Its the blues; there's plenty of room for folklore.]
If it's any comfort, I believe Wikipedia is dead wrong. :>)
Thanks, Bob--I got some good stuff from here.
