Dragnet is Jack Webb's most famous contribution to OTR, however it was not his only contribution. Webb also starred in a series of private detective shows. There was Jeff Reagan or the Loin's Eye where Webb worked for a guy named the Loin who worried more about getting money than solving crime. There was also Johnny Modero, where Webb works on the waterfront doing anything to make ends meet. Finally, there was Pat Novak, for Hire, PI series were people kept trying to make Novak their patsy. All of these series were short-lived and very similar in tone. They were very hard-boiled and great fun. Have any of you heard these shows and, if so, what did you think of them?

  • I was drawn to Webb more because he was a devout jazz fan than anything else, his speaking style was perfect for radio
  • Yes, PNFH was a really good one, with Webb and the other guy playing Patsy. Tudor Owen was cleverly funny, as usual. You got the feeling that the entire cast were friends or else really enjoyed doing the show together.

Hmm, it seems your icon must meet mine. They did some films together...lol  Have a goof one.  EP
