This group exists as an effort to highlight those obscure and little-remembered radio broadcasts from the airwaves of the past. Not every program earned a high Hooper rating. At "Have You Heard?" these shows will earn our attention.

  • I saw some show on TV that was talking about woman physic who was on the radio in the 1930's (and for the life of my white beard, I can't remember her name) - does anyone happen to have heard such a show or know if it is in existence?

Mama Bloom's Brood

Here is an interesting little comedy/soap opera that I found in the internet archives a few years ago.  It follows the adventures of a New York Jewish family who leave behind their successful clothing factory to take a chance on show biz and the early movie industry of Hollywood, California.  Episodes are short, about 13 minutes apiece.  Wish there were more... Alan Lomax

Just downloaded John Szwed's new biography Alan Lomax -- The Man who Recorded the World.   Very enjoyable and a peek into the OTR world from an oblique angle.  I did a quick google on Lomax and didn't find much available for free, just lying around.  Quite a bit expensively pre-packaged and for sale. Burl Ives

I've been looking for episodes of Burl IvesThe Wayfaring Stranger radio show. Just fifteen minutes of Burl in the studio, picking and chatting and singing. Sounding very old and wise and very young and nervous, all at once.  He would have been in his early twenties, not sure if he would wind up as a ballad troubadour, or on broadway, or as a stop-motion animated snowman, with a goatee.   Found about four or five shows.
