Digitally restored from Vinyl, Cassette and Digital. Each episode sounds good to very good/excellent beginning to end. Audio has been cleaned and the Volume normalized throughout so you can easily hear the dialogue and action scenes are not louder. This set was difficult as the quality of many of the episodes was poor even from original vinyl or cassette, but came out pretty good overall. The first audition episode in set is just good quality along with a few others that were able to get to at least good quality.
Does not include every single episode, as some were just too poor of quality to restore, but over 200 is sweet still!!
Escape is a classic American radio drama that aired on CBS from 1947 to 1954, featuring high-adventure, suspense, and survival stories For a half-hour of classic high-adventure storytelling from the original CBS broadcasts , airing on CBS from July 7, 1947 to September 25, 1954.
Since the program did not have a regular sponsor like Suspense (a sister program that often used the same actors and scripts), it was subjected to frequent schedule shifts and lower production budgets, although Richfield Oil signed on as a sponsor for five months in 1950.
Despite these problems, Escape enthralled many listeners during its seven-year run. The series’ well-remembered opening combined Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain with this introduction, as intoned by William Conrad and later Paul Frees:
“Tired of the everyday grind? Ever dream of a life of romantic adventure? Want to get away from it all? We offer you… Escape!”
Following the opening theme, a second announcer (usually Roy Rowan) would add:
“Escape! Designed to free you from the four walls of today for a half-hour of high adventure!”
