How to Embed MP3 to Listen To most Anywhere on Ning

A lot of times you might want to leave a sample of an mp3 for others to listen to around TimesPast. Perhaps in the "Leave a Comment" box, "Add A Comment" box, Blog Post, In The Post Box where you write a description when you start a discussion, ect.

Below is a sample what will look like: Click the Play Button

Copy the code here for the google player at this link. It will be in the shaded area under

1. Google Reader MP3 Player

Give it a try. If have any questions, feel free to ask.

A good place to use this is if you post several otr shows, can add one of your favorites in the show description to let your friends listen to a show there on the spot. Say when you post some shows in the old time radio group, you can go now add one of your uploads in the description. Just put the code somewhere in the description.

Hi calfkiller:

Where do I place the "show" or "music" file that I would like to add to the "embedded media player" as part of my discussion page? The files are at home but not link? Do I upload within the discussion page or within the text box. Need some clarification.

Thanks, katy

Hi Robert: Thanks for the article but it just adds to my confusion. I understand the player part but wanted to know how I link my mp3 within that player. The article just says add an URL or link.
How do I create an URL for my mp3 at home?

You do not link anything from yahoo or google. Just high light the code, right click on the highlighted part and copy.

Paste where you want the player to go. This will put the code there.

In the code text you will see MP3_FILE_URL delete this and replace with the link to your mp3 file.

here is one of your uploads that looks like this

Hilltop House 530716.mp3

I right clicked on it and copied the link location - copy link location in Firefox, or Copy Shortcut in internet explorer -

This is what I got

http://timespast.ning.com/group/romanceontheradio/forum/attachment/...

You replace the text that says MP3_FILE_URL in the code with

http://timespast.ning.com/group/romanceontheradio/forum/attachment/...

You can copy and paste all of it

That is it.

Try it and will go over it more if needed.

You can do it.

Thanks so much for the extra instructions on creating a URL or link to place inside the player.
I did it but unfortunately parts of the embedded player for color and so forth are sitting outside of the player? I pasted the embedded player exactly the way it shows on the page above. Is there a closed colon missing somewhere.

Here is what it look like inside the text box for the player:

The Halo Commercial for Theater of Romance:

quality="best" bgcolor="#ffffff" wmode="window"
flashvars="playerMode=embedded" />

This last part of the player was kicked out??? You can visually see on my discussion page for Theater of Romance and on the example above. The player works but this last part is left out???

Let me know what I did wrong! katy

It will be in the shaded area under

It will work perfect then.
