Mike Newton replied to David Vopicka's discussion The Wild Bill Elliot Show in the group WESTERNS
"Bill Elliott did have his own radio show in the late Forties. It was a fifteen minute serial concerning a vanishing stagecoach. I believe that it was originally sponsored by Quaker Puffed Wheat and the network could have been Mutual. At this time,…"

"The Six Shooter ran on radio from Sept 20, 1953 to June 24, 1954. Originally on Sundays at 8 pm on NBC, it switched to Thursdays at 8 p.m. in April, 1954. Although it was an adult western like Gunsmoke, it did not present an authentic picture of…"

Mike Newton replied to Robert's discussion Boris Karloff in the group OLD TIME RADIO LEGENDS
"You forgot to list "Cat Wife" which Boris Karloff did for Lights Out about 1938. He plays a guy who's married to a woman who likes to party. He's more conservative. When they argue, she slowly but surely turns into a cat. As you…"

"Great shot of Roy and Dale. This is from "Bells of St. Angelo" (Republic, 1947). Roy has a couple of rough fights in this one, one of which he loses. Dale plays a western story writer who has come out to the West to gather local color. Roy…"

Mike Newton replied to Couch Potato's discussion The Caballero's Way by O. Henry in the group WESTERNS

I"m glad you like my picture collection. Take as many as you want and make them your own. They all came from the net, mostly usenet. I haven't posted too many lately, mainly because I can't remember which ones I posted and which ones I haven't. My memory isn't what it used to be. Thanks for the comments. I am learning from them.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Rick

I noticed your comment on the quest book at COTR and you were interested in the name "Calfkiller".
I have been asked often about the name Calfkiller. I live in the Cumberland Mountains area of Tennessee near a stream called Calfkiller River. Calfkiller was the name of a Cherokee Indian Chief from this area of Tennessee.
Old time radio had always been an interest to me and often friends would ask me where to find the shows. The web page was originally started just for friends to view links to content when I ran across something of interest. The name Calfkiller was easy to remember for anyone from the area and was just used for simplicity and easy for my friends to remember. It was done as a hobby and will always be. One thing led to another and the visitors to the site grew. I never changed the name. So I guess old Chief Calfkiller's name lives on in reference to Old Time Radio.
