  • You are welcome Bruce.  I am not a techie by any means but when you have been a pirate as long as I have you can't help but have some of it rub off on you.  LOL  -----------------------------------------  R

  • Rik, thank you so much for your very comprehensive reponse.

You were right. It wouldn't open problably because I only attempted to so with the first DL not realizing this was a sequential rar file.

I've known about the sequential file system, but I don't always recognize it when it appears. I suppose I should  by now, but my tech savey is still quite limited.

As I've told you a few times before, I still don't know how to upload files or even how to use Audacity to change an analog file into a digital one.

Please excuse my tech naivity for requiring so much of your time, however, I was able to open the file and now I can enjoy it thanks to you.

    Best as always.

  • Hi Bruce,

I have no idea what you are talking about.  System information files???  I have the feeling that you attempted to open each of the 3 folders.  These are all 3 part of a sequential rar file.  I would suggest that you get a free copy of WinRar itself because if you tried to open it with one of the knock-off versions of winRar you may have one that only opens simple rar files and not sequentials.  That said, I am enclosing download info for free WinRar.  If the SIF file you are talking about is text file related I am enclosing also Damn NFO viewer.  It will open text files that windows won't.

Then there is the biggie, if you managed to get it open as one file it should have been an HD MKV file.  You mentioned Windows Media Player.  It is horrible because Windows leaves out many of the Audio and Video codecs that are in use worldwide because they will open bootleg media and windows does not like us because we do what we do.  I have also enclosed a downloader for the latest version of K-Lite Codecs and the associated Player.  The codecs will work with WMP but I highly suggest that you get and associate the codecs with the Media Player Classic HC which is supplied in the codec pack.  BTW the framework the player is based on is the original player that Windows developed and later changed because it was so versatile and the source code was out there on the Net.  They changed to a proprietary format that they could control and that is the crappy player they have now that phones home and tells them what bootyleg media you tried to play with it.  The codecs will also work flawlessy with VLC and the WMP if you want to use them.  VLC is excellent also but a player is only as good as the codecs it uses.  I have used K-Lite Codecs for over 14 years and am still trying to find a media file that they won't open.

If  this doesn't solve the problem that I only partially understood PM me with your name and address and I will throw it on a disk and send it to you.  I routinely use WinRar and Sequential Rar files when the file is too large to be uploaded to my storage.  That way the downloader gets a file that is not cut up and I can still upload it.  I hope this helps you and anyone else that reads it and is having difficulty with downloading files from Times Past.  let me know if I have helped or not.  -----------------------------------------------  R

  • Thanks Rik for the WOTW rock audios.

I think the first one of the 70s works much better now that it's part dramatization instead of just music.

I'd like to hear the New Gen. version from 2012, but I don't know how the open the System Information format, it's posted in.

I have both Window media player and VLC player, but neither one will open them.

    Any suggestions.

    Thanks.

  • Thanks for having me, Rick. The variation on the site is now amazing. Cheers, Dave.

  • Oh wow, that was beautiful, I loved every minute of it, thanks for posting.........Elaine

  • Ed,

That is the best thing that I have seen in ages.  It is True, so true!  We are becoming a planet of fat vegetables and as much as I love the net it is just an overlay of our world.  Thank You for it.  ----------------------  R
