To all,

I usually do not say much in the line of what is done and what is not done.  I go by a usually hands-off  kind of site meaning that unless there is a gross problem I usually do not intervene.  Once in awhile my pet peeve gets the best of me and I have to open my big mouth.

As many old-timers on the site know the one thing that I cannot keep my mouth shut on is Thank Yous for what you take.  We have a bevy of posters that slow down posting when they are not appreciated.  I know because i am one of them.  We all enjoy this site an would not want it to disappear due to lack of material.  It is an easy matter to give thanks, even a canned thank you note saved in 1 meg or much less space on your computers will do.  I am finding a very disheartening ratio of downloads to thank yous.  I have one fairly new post with 29 downloads and 2 thank yous. another of 163 downloads and 4 thank yous and so on.  This is quite disheartening as I for one have put a lot of work into making this site and it seems like the higher our number of members rises the more the  ratio goes asunder.  We have a fairly loyal base of members who always give thanks for what they take and I commend them.  I am sure that others wonder why the amount of material that is new has lowered.  Well this is your answer.  There is not ratios or anything like it on Times Past, we are on an honor system so to speak.  The only incentive I can give is that if you want more to download and more people to upload more material then start saying thanks for what you take.  No one likes to be taken for granted.  You and I both know that this site is different from any other on the net and that is worth a lot.  You know who you are that do not say Thanks and you who do say thanks everyone knows who you are and we thank you back wholeheartedly. All replies are welcome.

Thank You Jay.  I read your remark and i thank you for thanking me.  I have been sitting here thinking about all the things I could say.  Yes there are more people saying thank you, no the numbers aren't that different and I am sick of preaching to the choir.  I have noticed that some other posters have stopped posting.  I guess they are more moved by the situation and need the accolades.  Me, I post because i like to and I enjoy the heartfelt thanks that i get from those that have said Thank You since they became members and I can tell that they really mean it.  Thank You for saying what you feel.  When I started this thread I had hopes that i could change the world but that appears not to be so.  The indifference that permeates society in this digital age will not be cured by me.  The funny thing is that this doesn't appear to bother me as much as i thought it would.  The reason is that there is still a core of decency here as there is in the world, a core of those that do the right thing and have common decency.  Those people i thank and applaud because the figures did go up a little and the core few are still there saying Thanks I really like that..  The others that act like they don't belong are right, They Don't belong.  They may be members but they still don't belong and I realize that you cannot change people, you can only show them the way.  It is their choice whether they belong or not.  This whole thing is not about a Thanks, it is about belonging to something and everyone has made their own choice. You that are truly members of Times Past and show it I salute you, the others I don't know so I have no opinion about them.  -------------------------------------  Rick

Big time Boo-boo

I have messed around and deleted the ‘S’ folder from the library.  I am in the process of restoring it but it will take several days.  I’ll get Saturday Night Theatre up as soon as possible. jimb

To All Library Users

I have made a boo-boo somehow and accidentally moved all the ‘S’ Files to the bottom of the ‘R’ folder.  Until I can figure out a way to fix this, this is where you can find them. Anyone with a solution, mail me off-list. Thanks jimb
